You can quit smoking if you stop smoking nicotine patches, but only after your body becomes adapted to the withdrawal. It can take from 2 to 6 weeks to do that. And your body might still crave nicotine. There are some products that are a mix of nicotine and other substances. These are called "Nicotine Replacement Therapy". But you must stick with these products. Nicotine replacement therapy has some serious side effects. So I cannot recommend it.

The next question is about the nicotine patch or gum. Here are some reasons why:

1. Nicotine gum, patches and sprays cause heartburn, which is an unpleasant burning sensation in the mouth. 2. These products are addictive and, therefore, people tend to continue using them for a long time. 3. The products are expensive, and they are also expensive to carry. 4. The products are often not effective.
